Payne - Model 223, 11'6" 3/2 Salmon Rod

For sale here is an 11'6" 3/2 Model 223 Payne salmon rod in very good used condition. An uncommon model, double built in the butt and mid. All original except 3 guides on the mid aren't exactly a perfect match (looks like an older re-wrapping). Varnish is in good shape throughout with a few small touch-up spots. Heavy wire snake guides with perfections stripper. Dark brown windings with gold tipping and green & red accents at the ferrules and winding check. All sections are straight and full length, and the ferrules fit perfectly. Weight is 14.85oz. Medium, progressive action, it should handle a variety of modern spey lines. The cork is lightly soiled but smooth, fore & aft. Down-locking reel seat retains the Payne logo in cartouche on the locking collar and "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch" above the hard rubber butt. Original brass cap tube housing the tips and mid, with original bag & hang tag. The tube and butt section pack into the original canvas sack. A complete package of a somewhat scarce Payne taper.
