J.W. Young - Pattern 10B, 3" Fly Reel - Eunuch

For sale here is an early JW Young 3" pattern 10B fly reel in very good used condition. This a leaded reel with no trade branding and replacement smooth aluminum foot. Mechanically perfect with RHW bias. Double-knurled tension adjust works as intended, and the Erinoid handle spins freely. A "Eunuch" variant, the reel lacks spindle bearings. It's hard to make out, but it looks like a previous owner scratched "DT7 F" on the winding plate (even though I can't imagine a DT7 fitting on this reel). There are also light file marks to the rim knurling, probably from someone shortening the original foot prior to the replacement. Weight is 6.31oz. A fine pre-WWII trout reel with design elements of the Hardy Perfect. Probably best with a 4wt line. Sold in an aftermarket black zippered pouch.
