For sale here is a Paul Young Midge, 6'3" 2/2 4wt bamboo rod in excellent original condition. Serial #4396, made by Bob Summers in 1967. Medium flamed cane with dark snake guides and carbide stripping guide wrapped in antique gold windings. All sections are straight, full length and serialized. Super-Z ferrules are blued and fit perfectly. Script is in Bob Summers' hand: "A Paul H Young Co. Rod - Midge 6'3" 1 3/4oz". Skeleton grip and reel seat with dual slide bands. The grip is clean and smooth, and the reel seat cork has some minor wear from the slide bands digging in. Weight is 2.12oz. Crisp, medium fast action. Best with a DT4, the rod has a parabolic character but not overly so. Apart from some very light marring on the reel seat and minor wear to the slide bands the rod looks like it saw very little time on the water. The satin bag remains in near perfect condition, a testament to the rod being used sparingly. The original owners' name (W. Adams) is written in pen on the flap of the bag. A very fine PHY Midge, made during Bob Summers' tenure at the company. Sold in the original bag and Champion style tube with aftermarket decal affixed.
