For sale here is a model 795, 7'9" 2-piece / 2-tip 5wt bamboo rod made by John Pickard. Excellent used condition, based on the Paul H. Young Para 14 taper. Featuring medium flamed cane with 3x3 nodes, oxidized guides and transparent brown windings. Swiss-style ferrules fit perfectly. All sections are full length and both tips have very faint fish fighting sets. All-cork grip and reel seat with blued nickel silver cap and ring. The cork is smooth with a hint of soiling, and the pocketed butt cap has some bluing loss to the edges. Weight is 3.67oz. Very pleasant semi-parabolic action, the rod excels at medium distance and has surprising power reserves for longer casts/heavier flies. John Pickard's work is firmly set in the Michigan tradition, and his PHY tapers are some of the finest renditions available. Sold with original canvas fold-over bag and brass capped tube with Pickard's card affixed.
