Winston, R.L. - 8'6" 2/1 5wt (4 1/8oz) Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an 8'6" 2/1 5wt Winston bamboo rod in very good used condition. Serial #9893, made in 1971. Medium tempered cane with 3x3 nodes, hollow fluted construction and bright guides with putty colored wraps. Duronz ferrules fit perfectly and both sections are full length, straight and serialized. The script on the tip section doesn't quite match Doug Merrick's writing on the butt, my guess is this tip was refinished, and the handwriting is that of Tom Morgan. Strap & ring hook keeper (the ring is missing), and 6" cork grip with Winston's standard Bakelite reel seat. The cork is heavily soiled with light ridging and one area of filler at the widest part of the Wells grip. Scripted and actual weight is 4 1/8oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast, although the rod is no slouch. Perfect with a DT5. Sold in the original bag and tube with 80% label.
