Brandin, Per - Model 866-2 'Tournament Trout Fly' 8'6" 6wt 2/2 Quad Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Per Brandin 8'6" 2/2 staggered ferrule 6wt in near mint condition. This is a hollow built quad Tournament Trout Fly accuracy rod, originally designed in 1992 in response to a challenge by renown tournament caster John Napoli. This one is from Per's limited run of "TTF" rods made in 2018 which improved on the original design with evolved hollow-cutting and refined tip tapers. Featuring medium tempered cane, oxidized guides and agate stripping guide wrapped in light brown windings with darker accents. All sections are straight and full length, and the blued ferrules fit perfectly. Both tips utilize a mix of single foot and standard snake guides, and they are marked for ease of rotation. Staggered ferrule design meaning the butt section is shorter than the tips, and the butt ferrule is fitted with an elongated bamboo ferrule plug to account for the length in the bag. 6.5" cork grip is clean and smooth, and the rod is fitted with an aluminum up-locking reel seat over mahogany spacer. Scripted and actual weight is 4 3/8oz. This one is a bit faster than the 1992 versions, which I'm sure results in better performance in the tournament disciplines, but it also makes for an amazing fishing rod. Action is on the faster side of medium fast, very responsive with quick recovery. Perfect with a DT6. The rod is essentially unused, the only thing keeping it from being "mint" is a small mounting mark to the reel seat spacer.  Perhaps the best description comes from Mr. Brandin himself: "This is probably the finest example of my current understanding of what is possible in terms of both taper design and hollow building." Sold in the original bag with stiffener and brass capped tube with canvas tube protector.
