Leonard, H.L. - Model 49DF, 7'6" 3/2 4wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an H.L. Leonard model 49DF "Tournament", 7'6" 3-piece / 2-tip, 4-5wt bamboo rod in excellent condition. This rod received a light restoration by Steve Blake in which he addressed some varnish meltdown and re-wrapped two guides (the agate stripper and the first snake guide on one tip). Medium toned cane with 3x3 nodes, golden tan windings and reverse-twist snake guides. Bright ferrules fit perfectly, and the butt ferrule & tip tops are patent dated. Sections are all full length, and the tips have very faint casting sweeps. Strap & ring hook keeper, diminutive 4.5" grip and cap & ring reel seat over mortised spacer. The cork is smooth with light soiling, and the wood spacer was refinished by Blake. The butt cap retains the HL Leonard roll stamp with "Tournament" on the reverse. Weight is 3.5oz. Medium fast action, best with a DT4 but I suspect it will cast a 5wt line no problem. A fine pre-fire Leonard dry fly rod with slightly swelled butt and fine tips. Sold in the original bag with hangtag and rare black tube with brass hardware.
