Vom Hofe, Edward - Model 355 Peerless Fly Reel - Size 3

For sale here is a rare size 3 Edward Vom Hofe Model 355 Peerless fly reel in very good original condition. The reel size is stamped on the foot and there is no serial number, dating this reel to the first few years of the 20th century. Nickel silver rims, foot and handle with aluminum spool and brass spindle. Sliding oil port cover reads "Edward Vom Hofe - Maker - Fulton St. NY". 2 1/2" diameter with a weight of 4oz. On/off clicker works as intended. Mechanically tight with a moderately strong check spring. The check is essentially neutral, maybe a hint of LHW bias. The handle, side plates, and interior bands are hard rubber and they all show a degree of blush. The side plates and interior bands have a hint of dark brown, whereas the handle is almost entirely a dark chocolate color. All the screws are in good condition and the reel foot is unmolested. A beautiful early example of the size 3 Peerless. Sold in a hard leather case with snap closure.
