For sale here is a 7'9" 3/1 hollow built bamboo rod made by Japanese rod maker Masa Akaike. A new rod from the maker, #042. A flamed, 6-strip rod made of Madake bamboo. Oil finished with a thin coat of urethane to keep the rod nice and light. Lightly oxidized guides with transparent windings and pale green accents. Blued ferrules fit perfectly, and all sections are straight, full length & serialized. 5.6" cork grip retains the crepe paper. Blued cap & ring reel seat over dark mortised spacer. Weight is 3.16oz. Rated as a 3-4wt, I think this rod sings with a DT3. The Madake cane imparts a slower, medium action but the rod has a very pleasant progressive taper. An elegant trout rod from Mr. Akaike. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube with tube protector.
