Sold Out
For sale here is a scarce George Halstead 9' 3-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod in excellent original condition. The rod features medium tempered cane with oxidized snake guides wrapped in caramel windings. The ferrules and tip tops have red accents with red & green at the hook keeper. The 18/64 & 12/64 ferrules fit perfectly, and all sections are straight & full length. The wraps and varnish remain near-perfect, a superb example of Halstead's work. 6.5" cork grip is clean and mostly smooth with just the slightly hint of ridging. Down-locking reel seat over mahogany spacer. The screw collar has two rows of knurling and the Halstead roll stamp, and the base is a pocketed sleeve pinned over the aluminum butt cap. A strong 6/7wt with medium fast action. Halstead is a name that weaves its way through the histories of several well-known eastern rod makers, but his own rods remain somewhat mysterious to many. Any Halstead rod is scarce, but good original examples such as this are quite rare. Sold in the original bag and Halstead made tube with pinned brass hardware. The front page of a Halstead catalog has been copied and affixed to the tube.
