For sale here is a Hardy St. George 3 3/8” Multiplier fly reel. Made between 1927-1939, the reel is in excellent condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. Ebonite handle spins freely, rim mounted tensioner operates as intended, and the ribbed brass reel foot is full length. Spiral cut gears offer a 2:1 multiplier ratio and operate incredibly smoothly with very little wobble in the winding plate. “A” is clearly stamped on all four pieces and the frame is stamped with a “J.A.J.” makers mark (Joe Johnson). There is a stable hairline crack in the winding plate from the handle river to the edge. This appears to be purely cosmetic. The smoky agate line guard has two hairline cracks which can be seen in the pictures below. The reel comes in period correct Hardy Bros box. A fine example of a scarce reel!
