Heddon - Deluxe Featherweight President #50 - 7'6" 0 3/4F 2/2 Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a scarce Heddon Deluxe Featherweight #50 President bamboo rod in very good original condition. 7'6" 2-piece / 2-tip 0 3/4F. Heddon rated this size as an HDH or E (5/6wt), but I prefer it with a modern DT5. A late era #50 with medium tempered cane and oxidized guides wrapped in golden tan with forest green trim. All sections are full length and free of repairs, and both tips have slight fish-fighting sets. The 13/64 ferrules fit perfectly. The varnish has some checks and scratches from honest use, none of which penetrate the cane. The script on the butt section remains clear and bold, and the butt is nicely swelled. 6" cork grip with downlocking reel seat of tenite, nickel silver and Circassian walnut. The grip is soiled and slightly ridged, especially towards the winding check. The action is medium fast and it's a delight to cast. For much of its history, the model #50 was the highest grade Heddon available and it's said that less than one half of one percent of Heddon cane stock was of a high enough quality for the "Presidents". Model #50's of any size are scarce, but short & light trout configurations are highly coveted. This one is sold in the original bag with data label and replacement tube that is missing its cap.
