Leonard, H.L. - 9' 3/2 5wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a 9' 3/2 5wt H.L. Leonard bamboo rod. A pre-fire rod in very good original condition. No hang tag, but I believe it's a No. 51. The rod weighs 5.13oz and features English twist snake guides wrapped in apple green winding with alternating red/green accent wraps and variegated accents at the winding check and male ferrules. 11/64 and 17/64 waisted step-down ferrules fit perfectly (patent stamp on the butt ferrule is very crisp) and all sections are straight and full length. Strap & ring hook keeper with 5.5" cork grip and square-thread down locking reel seat over butternut spacer. The grip shows some ridging and a small chip at the top. All original condition, although I believe the windings received a very light overcoat many years ago. The varnish shows some evidence of age, mostly in the form of small scratches and chips, though nothing that requires immediate attention. Action is on the medium side of medium fast, and this rod will cast a variety of 5 or 6wt lines, although I prefer it with a DT5. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube.
