For sale here is an Orvis Rocky Mountain, impregnated 6'6" 3/2 bamboo rod in excellent used condition. Serial #38173, made in 1964. Medium toned cane with 3x3 nodes and bright snake guides wrapped in chestnut windings. All sections are straight, full length & serialized. 13/64 & 10/64 ferrules fit perfectly. The rod appears all original, however the mid male ferrule is a replacement, and the re-wrapped threads are more of a bronze/gold color. 5.25" cork grip is smooth with light soiling, and the rod is fitted with the Orvis down-locking reel seat over wood spacer (the initials "M.M." are scratched into the reel seat collar). Weight is 3.21oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast, perfect with a DT5. The Orvis Rocky Mountain was a popular rod for backpacking and longer treks into smaller streams. This one remains in nice shape and is sold in the original bag and original leather tube. The tube straps are showing their age, but the leather cladding on the tube is in good condition.
