For sale here is a San Francisco-era, 8' 3 1/4oz 2/1 5wt bamboo fly rod, made by Merrick/Howells in 1966. The rod is in excellent condition, and features putty-colored wraps with burgundy accents at the tip-top, ferrules, and hook keeper. The entire tip section appears to have been re-wrapped as there is a slight variation in color vs. the butt section. Strap & ring hook keeper, bakelite winding check, and all cork grip & reel seat with aluminum sliding band. The cork shows some soiling and slight ridging. Serial #9206 marked on both sections, and the line weight (HDH #5 Line) is also marked on the rod. Assembled weight is 3.40 oz on my scale. Both sections are full length and straight and the 13/64 Duronze ferrules fit perfectly. A great all-around trout rod, sold with original sock and tube with ~60% intact label.
