Sold Out
For sale here is a Model 663-2df, 6'6" 2-piece / 2-tip solid quad bamboo rod from the bench of Per Brandin. Excellent original condition, made in 2008. Featuring medium flamed cane with oxidized guides and banded red agate stripping guide, wrapped in transparent brown windings w/ black accents. All sections are full length and free of repairs, and the butt section has a very mild (and fixable) set below the stripping guide. 11/64 ferrules fit perfectly, and the female is fitted with a micarta & cork ferrule plug. 4.5" tapered grip is smooth and lightly soiled. Blued nickel silver slide band reel seat over mortised mahogany spacer. A unique taper developed over several years, the design incorporates elements from the Payne model 96 and the F.E. Thomas Streamer. The action is medium fast with deadly accuracy at short and medium ranges. Light and nimble in the hard, it feels capable of turning over long leaders for delicate presentations. A rare model, with very few examples made. This one is sold in the original bag and tube with makers' data decal and canvas tube protector. From the collection of Thomas H. Clark.
