Dingley / Alex Martin - "Thistle" 3.5" Fly Reel

For sale here is a 3 1/2" plate wind "Thistle" fly reel, made for Alex Martin by Dingley. A RHW reel in the style of the Hardy Perfect, featuring dark leaded finish, half-ported spool with reverse threaded brass retaining screw and ebonite handle grasp. Smooth brass foot is full length, and one end has a slight wave, although I tried it on a few rods without issue. Rim mounted tensioner works as intended with strong check throughout its range. Each part is stamped "6" with the Dingley "D" on the frame below the check mechanism. The reel has some signs of honest use but remains mechanically tight with only minor cosmetic considerations. 3.5" diameter with a spool width of 0.78". Weight is 8.88oz. Best with a 6 or 7wt line. Sold in a shearling lined suede zipper case.
