For sale here is an Orvis CFO III "screwback" fly reel made for Orvis by Hardy in England. Stan Bogdan created the original prototype for this reel and they were first offered for sale in the 1971 Orvis catalog. RHW or LHW. This is an early 1970's reel featuring a ported spool and frame with aluminum center screw and rivets, flawless dark gray enamel paint, three-hole aluminum reel foot, and quick release spool. The reel is very close to mint condition, it may have been mounted on a rod at one time, but I doubt it has ever seen the water. One of the finest examples I have seen. A must have for CFO collectors, it would be difficult to upgrade from this.
