For sale here is an Orvis Rocky Mountain, impregnated 6'6" 3/2 bamboo rod. Serial #3444, made in 1947 by John Rosencrantz. A relatively early impregnated rod marked "Pat Pending" on the butt section. Excellent+ original condition, the rod may be unused. Darkly flamed cane with lightly oxidized guides wrapped in dark brown windings. All sections are straight, full length & serialized. 14/64 & 9/64 ferrules fit perfectly. 5.25" cork grip is clean & smooth, and the rod is fitted with the early down-locking Orvis reel seat over wood spacer. The Orvis stamping is clean and crisp on the screw collar, and the reel seat has a few very faint mounting marks; the only evidence the rod was ever cast. Medium fast action, I cast it with a WF5 but some may like it with a DT4. A low serial number Orvis impregnated rod in remarkable condition, it feels like a time capsule. Ready to fish or collect. Sold in the original bag and tube (sans label).
