For sale here is a Paul Young 'Martha Marie', 7'6" 2/2 5wt bamboo rod in excellent condition. Serial #3884, one of the last rods made during Paul Young's lifetime. Dark flamed cane with oxidized guides and Perfection stripping guide, wrapped in dark gold windings. The rod is all original with the exception of the windings at the female ferrule and first guide, which are re-wrapped. All sections are straight, full length and serialized. Super-Z ferrules fit perfectly. Bent loop hook keeper and all-cork grip & reel seat. The reel seat is lightly mortised with blued sliding band and Japanned pocketed butt cap. Butt cap retains the PHY roll stamp, and the butt is scripted with delicate gold ink in Jack Young's handwriting "David Whitefield - MMY Model 7 1/2' 3.42oz - A Paul H. Young rod". Scripted and actual weight are the same. Medium-fast parabolic action, best with a 5wt line. A fantastic example of the taper. Solid in the original satin bag and Champion tube.
