Sold Out
For sale here is a Paul Young Texas General 8'6" 2/2 bamboo rod in very good original condition. Medium flamed bamboo with bright guides, golden bronze windings and varnished finish. All sections are straight & full length, and the tips are marked "Dry Tip" & "Bug Tip". Super Z ferrules fit perfectly, and the bluing is holding up nicely. The butt is scripted in PHY's hand: "Phil Miller Jan 1956 - Texas General 8 1/2" 5.25oz". 6.5" ventilated grip with thumb relief, and down locking reel seat over cork spacer. The unfinished aluminum threads show even but mild corrosion. The cork grip is soiled and ridged, and there is large piece of the bottom ring that is missing and has been replaced with a rubber shim. The Scripted and actual weights of the Dry and Bug tips are 5.13oz and 5.25oz respectively. Medium fast, parabolic action. Capable of long and accurate casts, the Texas General model was occasionally used for fly casting competitions. This one is sold in the original blue technicolor bag and Champion tube with the original decal still partially intact.
