Powell, E.C. - 8'3" 2/2 5-6wt Bamboo Rod (Maslan-Era)

For sale here is a Maslan-era E.C. Powell 8'3" 2/2 5wt, semi-hollow bamboo rod. Good condition, this rod was previously sold as "factory restored". There is no documentation to that effect, but it certainly looks like that could be the case. Medium tempered cane, bright guides and carbide stripper wrapped in copper-colored windings. All sections are straight and full length, and the ferrules fit perfectly. A few wraps have been overcoated, and the tip ferrules appear to be slightly different sizes. They both have cosmetic cracks at the end of the ferrule serrations and the difference in length is about 0.12". The rod is wrapped black/white at the hook keeper (small snake guide), and the cork grip is smooth but soiled. Up-locking Powell reel seat over black Bakelite spacer. A very smooth casting rod with medium/medium-fast action, a B-taper by measurement and feel. Powell trout rods under 8'6" are relatively scarce and represent some of the finest western trout rods ever made. This one is ready to fish and sold in the original bag and tube. The tube collar is completely split and crudely repaired, but the cap still catches the threads.
