Winston, R.L. - 8'3" 3/2 4wt Bamboo Rod - Fiberglass Ferrules

For sale here is a Winston 8'3" 3/2 4wt bamboo rod in excellent+ used condition. A Brackett-era rod with fiberglass ferrules, serial #3658. Featuring lightly tempered cane with oxidized snake guides and red agate stripping guide. Wraps are transparent orange with oxblood accents. Sections are full length & serialized, and both tips have very faint fish-fighting sweeps. Fiberglass ferrules fit perfectly; this was a special option at the time, and very few rods were built with these handsome, low-profile glass ferrules. Strap & ring hook keeper with bamboo winding check and 6.75" cork grip (smooth with a hint of soiling). Nickel silver cap & ring reel seat over fine zebrawood spacer. Scripted weight is 3 3/8oz, but it's closer to 3 3/4oz on my scale. The rod casts a DT or WF4 well, with action on the medium side of medium fast. Nice power reserves, it feels like it would be a great roll caster. A fine Brackett-era Winston, it packs into the original bag and tube with Winston decal.
