Sold Out $1.00
For sale here is a 10'6" 3-piece / 2-tip Payne bamboo salmon rod. Expertly restored by Jack Coyle, the rod remains in near mint restored condition. Pumpkin toned cane with oxidized snake guides and red agate stripping guide. Wraps are chestnut brown with green tipping and burgundy & gold accents at the hook keeper and ferrules. All sections are straight & full length, and the 13/64 and 21/64 ferrules fit perfectly. 7" grip is clean and smooth. Down-locking reel seat with aluminum collar and threads & nickel silver barrel and butt cap. The collar has "Payne" in cartouche and the A&F stamp is present, but faint, on the bottom of the spacer. The butt cap is removable to take a 5.5" fighting butt. No hang tag is present, but it's probably a 218 (weight is 10.0oz). A fine example, fished by Per Brandin once on the Dean River, post-restoration. Sold in the original canvas bag with brass capped tip-tube. From the collection of Per G. Brandin.
