For sale here is a Payne 208, 9' 3-piece / 2-tip 7wt bamboo rod. As-new condition with the paper still on the grip. Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch, the rod features pumpkin toned cane with oxidized snake guides and Perfection stripping guide. Wraps are chestnut brown with red tipping and gold accents at the winding check & ferrules. All sections are straight & full length, and the ferrule fits are perfect. Cork grip retains its protective paper wrap and has the model number inked in pen on the paper. Standard screw lock reel seat with makers stamp in cartouche on one side and "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch" on the reverse. Ted Simroe expertly restored the cork on both ferrule plugs, and the original hang tag is included, though it has become detached from the bag. Stated and actual weight is 5 1/4oz. The rod is packed in the original bag and brass capped tube with red A&F sticker. The tube comes in a custom tube protector. "New old stock" Payne rods are few and far between, and they never cease to amaze me. A truly rare find.
