Powell, E.C. - 9' 2/2, 5/6wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a 9' 2-piece / 2-tip E.C. Powell semi-hollow bamboo rod in very good used condition. I have cast it with both 5 and 6wt lines and it casts a variety of lines with ease. It has the medium/medium-fast action of a B-taper. Featuring medium tempered cane with oxidized guides and orange agate stripper, wrapped in golden tan windings and intermediate wraps all the way up. All sections are straight and full length, and the ferrule fit is perfect. 6.5" cork grip is soiled and slightly ridged. Up-locking aluminum reel seat over black composite spacer, the interrupted threads bear the Marysville stamping. The rod also has a bright snake guide hook keeper and the black & white wraps indicating the Powell semi-hollow construction. Scripted above the hook keeper is the semi-hollowing patent number, and the length & weight - 9' 4 1/2oz. The original owner was Phil Berg, a major talent agent during Hollywood's Golden Age, representing some of the era's biggest names (Clark Gable, Judy Garland, Lucille Ball, and many others). Mr. Berg's name and address is marked on the butt section and his name is on both tips, most likely a later addition. Sold in the original bag and tube with address label intact. A very nice E.C. Powell with an added bit of Hollywood history!
