Sold Out $1.00
For sale here is a 7' 2/2 4wt F.E. Thomas bamboo rod. A fishable rod with a few condition considerations. The butt is scarfed, approximately 12" below the ferrule, reportedly done by Hoagy Carmichael. The varnish has significant micro-cracking throughout with a few larger chips/checks. It's not soft, but it's certainly showing its age. English-twist guides with opaque red stripping guide, wrapped in crimson windings with black tipping and full intermediate wraps. The wraps and guide spacing are slightly offset at the tip ferrules, and this compounds all the way to the tip tops where the difference is about 1/4". The sections are straight and full length, and the ferrules fit nicely. Delicate 4" grip is soiled with light ridging. Nickel silver checks and nickel silver cap & ring reel seat over wood spacer. The butt cap retains the "F.E. Thomas - Special" stamp, and the butt cap has a "5" stamped in bullseye. A fine casting 4wt with medium action, although some may prefer it with a 3wt. Is it perfect? No. Is it begging to go fishing again? Absolutely! Sold in the original bag and a replacement aluminum tube with no caps. From the varied collection of Thomas H. Clark.
