For sale here is a spectacular 8' 2-piece/2-tip 6wt trout rod made by Harold S. "Pinky" Gillum. Excellent+/near mint condition, a true survivor. Medium/dark tempered cane with oxidized snake guides and carbide stripping guide wrapped in golden dark brown windings with black & cream accents at the ferrules & winding check. All sections are straight, full length & serialized (#I-893). 15/64 Super-Z ferrules fit perfectly, and the bluing is near perfect (the male ferrules are witness marked). 6.5" cork grip is clean and smooth, and the rod is fitted with Gillum's up-locking bright aluminum reel seat over walnut spacer. The maker's stamp is clear and crisp on the screw collar. Stated weight is 4 1/4oz, but the rod weighs 4.82oz on my scale. This rod has been well kept throughout the years and it is a delight to see such a fine Gillum trout rod. There is one condition consideration that needs to be disclosed: one of the tip tops suffered a hairline crack to the loop and was repaired with a small spot of adhesive. Difficult to see, easier to feel. If the next owner desires, an appropriate replacement shouldn't be too difficult to source. The rod casts a WF6 or DT6 with authority, the action is on the faster side of medium fast. I suspect it may like a lighter 7wt as well. Gillum's total output was somewhat limited, and rods in this condition can be considered nothing short of rare. An outstanding example, sold in the original bag and tube with intact data label.
